Senior Project Manager

As a Purpose Brand senior project manager, LaTonya Rufus draws on a background in urban planning and development to align government, business and community stakeholders toward transformational goals. Her participatory leadership style builds inclusive teams that organize and implement successful, sustainable projects.

Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, LaTonya is a skilled business analyst and project manager who has worked in multicultural communities to foster residential and commercial growth and revitalization. As the planning director in several south suburbs, she encouraged business retention through community seminars, code enforcement and public safety initiatives. She implemented a clear vision, led a productive and efficient staff and informed public officials through memorandums, reports and presentations. Her team benefits from her enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge about development, event planning, grant writing, politics and other pursuits.

LaTonya earned a master’s degree in public administration from Governors State University, a bachelor’s degree in community and regional planning from Iowa State University and a property management career diploma from Ashworth College. She is a certified scrum master and Six Sigma Green Belt and an affiliate of the American Planning Association, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, National Forum of Black Public Administrators, Delta Sigma Theta and Order of the Eastern Star.
